The first Repair cafe started in the Netherlands and has since become an international movement.
It's a community gatherings where visitors get their broken household items fixed, free of charge, with the help of experienced volunteers. Being very conscious about our way of consuming and throwing everything away at the first break, I wanted to get more involved and document positive actions towards the environment. So last year when I was still living in Vancouver, I was able to shoot one of the first Vancouver Repair cafe events. At a typical event, you can expect to see fixing stations for Electronics, Small Appliances, Textile, Jewelry, Woodwork and Bikes. Here are a few photos of the day.
