The first Repair cafe started in the Netherlands and has since become an international movement.
It's a community gatherings where visitors get their broken household items fixed, free of charge, with the help of experienced volunteers. Being very conscious about our way of consuming and throwing everything away at the first break, I wanted to get more involved and document positive actions towards the environment. So last year when I was still living in Vancouver, I was able to shoot one of the first Vancouver Repair cafe events. At a typical event, you can expect to see fixing stations for Electronics, Small Appliances, Textile, Jewelry, Woodwork and Bikes. Here are a few photos of the day. For more info and to get involved, contact MVRC.

Anne is a wonderful young lady full of energy, wonderful soul that I call my friend.
So when she told me she was training to take part in the Lululemon Seawheeze, I definitely took the chance to follow her and document a few of her training sessions. Here are some images of 2 of her trainings. Thanks for trusting me girl and for being my friend. I usually don't photograph friends' weddings as I can't wear 2 hats (guest & photographer). But from time to time I agree to do so and bring my camera along.
Here is a recent exception to the rule ;-) Hop in for a very intimate wedding that happened in Yaletown in the middle of the summer. The Richmond Therapeutic Riding Association (RTRA) was founded in 1995 after the need for a therapeutic horseback riding program in the community was identified.
The program moved to Twin Oaks Farm in 2001. RTRA offers Therapeutic Riding lessons for children and youth with disabilities. The Association provides a quality therapeutic horseback riding program for children and youth with disabilities in order to promote physical, social and psychological well being In 2019 I was able to spend a few days around the facilities thanks to my friend M. who worked there as an instructor, and then shoot the life of the facility and the horses. Therapy horses need to be patient, gentle, and very safe. Not all horses have the personality to do it and can handle what happens on their back! As a photographer I love working with so many different people on so many different projects.
Here is a photoshoot that took place for the SDECB, Société de Développement Economique de la CB, a mix of portraits and corporate images. |
